Beard Update #3

Sorry to the four of you that called me out this last week about not doing a beard update last week. I half forgot and half just didn't want to. With that being said, here is two weeks worth of growth.

Over the last two weeks there has been mostly just one conversation my beard and I keep having:

Beard: Wes, I really don't like when you watch playoff baseball or Paranormal Activity. You pull on me and accidentally pull out parts of me. Please watch only happy non-stressful things on t.v. Thanks.

Me: (No response)

Friday, October 16, 2009

Note that today is Friday, one day after my slightly ambitious goal of Thursday-ly updates regarding what my face looks like. With that being said, I think we can both get past it and move on.
My beard and I had a few interesting conversations this week. Most of them looking a little bit like this:

Wes: Beardy, please grow faster.
Beard: Wessy, please wash me more.
Wes: No deal.

On a not-so-side-but-actually-beard-related-note, it looks like my mustache is in dire need to a trimming. Don't get me wrong, my mouth loves have side mustache hairs making there way in while I'm trying to eat a bagel, but something inside of me tells me that it just needs a slight trim.
After re-reading that picture I just painted, I'm grossed out and done with beard-talk for this week.

The Arc

So today Keith Savage and I went to an indoor rock climbing gym in Arcadia called The Arc. I had never done this before, but it is addicting. Ever since we got back I can't get it off my mind. It is very therapeutic. I suggest everyone that reads this go immediately!!! We are going to start going every Sunday morning if you want to join.

Another Bungalow Roommate Engaged

So I am sure that you have already heard, but I am engaged to Rachael. It is very exciting stuff. I have been working so hard to do this and it has finally paid off. Here is how it went:
I was just sitting in the garage with Taylor and Tim and I was asking for their advice; "Should I just do this shit right now?"
Tim said that I should so I brought Taylor along for the ride so that he could take pictures (the fucking camera died). He also had to pause the second Dodger playoff game so I thank him very much for being a good friend. We drove over their and I felt nauseous and dizzy.
I busted through the door and all of her little Cottage roommates were in the living room and caught on fast and followed my lead.
I walked right up to her bed, where she was lying, and got down on one knee. I asked, "Will you marry me?"
In her facial mask and "comfs" she said "YES YES YES!"

Taylor hurried home to watch the Dodgers win in the 9th.

Great day.

Lakers Update: Preseason Game 1, Lakers 118 Warriors 101

Hey folks! As the Los Angeles Laker (pre)season begins I will be following the team in a very personal and intense way. While I will not be paid to follow the team, it is my joy to be able to represent them on this blog. That being said, without further ado... Game 1.

The blue balls are over (no reference to the Magic), and after 114 days of not seeing the your Lakers play, unless you watched countless re-runs of the Finals on NBAtv, then this was your first opportunity for Laker basketball. I personally couldn't have been more excited to see the old faces and new friends on the Laker squad. I was surrounded by baseball playoffs (eh?) and this game couldn't have come at a better time. So I sat in the living room with coffee, Bailey's and a room full of friends who we're eager to watch...the Dodger game at the bar :) So there I was yelling things at the T.V. during a pre-season game and realizing my perspective was way out of line.

The game was great. It was hard to tell if the Warriors were that bad or the Lakers played well but regardless they led comfortably for the whole game. Ron-Ron, the biggest off-season acquisition, played phenomenally, nearly recorded a triple-double in his debut, with 12 points, 9 boards, and 7 dimes, in 23 minutes. Kobe was Kobe, scoring from everywhere on the floor dropping 22 and 9 in 26 minutes, nearly effortlessly. Gasol did his thing (5-9 from the field) after a very busy summer abroad, leading the Spanish team to a European Championship, and having finger surgery. Perhaps the biggest story of the game was the affect the Bynusaur had down low, extincting every Warrior player in the paint. He scored 24 points in 31 minutes. I would like to see him rebound more, but there isn't a lot to go around when you have two other seven footers and an active Kobe and Artest. Personally my favorite part of the game was seeing Vujacic with his new haircut (Jason circa Laguna Beach season 2) make his first three shots. He actually took a step inside the three-point line to shoot! WOW! Great game. I'd like to see better defense but it's pre-season and it'll come around. Plus if I didn't have anything to bitch about then I wouldn't be a real fan.

Play of the Game: Shannon Brown throwing it down (like Weezy on a track) over Miki Moore.

Zen Master Quote of the Day: "If you meet the Buddha in the lane, feed him the ball."

That does it for game 1. Be well.

I'll be doing a weekly beard post that I'll take the liberty of entitling "Wes' weekly beard update". Ideally I'm going to try to post every Thursday, and together we can document the growth of my beard on a Thursday to Thursday basis.

In The Beginning

The highly anticipated, highly talked about, highly put off Bungalow blog has finally begun. Let's see how long this lasts until we get bored and give up.
